I came to this country as a baby refugee. I grew up in an immigrant family and in an immigrant community. Ukrainian was my first language. In middle school, I started learning Spanish. I pursued graduate studies in Spanish literature, and this opened the door to me to yet another culture.
Before going to law school, I was a teacher. I taught at the high school and college levels. Although I mostly taught Spanish, I also taught ESL and a course in women and Migration.
During the 20+ years that I have been an immigration attorney, I have had the pleasure of working with people from many different countries on all of the inhabited continents of the world. I have learned that though our traaditions and customs may differ to one extent or another, there is much more that unites us than there is that separates us.
I am now happily retired.
