Taryn Courtney Haumann

Taryn joined Dermer Appel Ruder after receiving her J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law. While in law school, Taryn was a member of Alabama’s Moot Court Board and served on the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Team. She also served as a Senior Editor on the Alabama Law Review and worked in Alabama’s Mediation Law Clinic. In this role, she mediated divorce and child custody disputes for pro se litigants in the Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court in Alabama.

Taryn also interned for the Honorable L. Scott Coogler in the United States District Court in the Northern District of Alabama, as well as for the Honorable Tommy E. Bryan at the Alabama Supreme Court. In these positions, Taryn was exposed to civil and criminal law in both federal and state courts, and she enjoyed observing the judges’ impressions as the cases developed during the litigation process.

Taryn grew up in Denver, Colorado, and has lived in every time zone in the contiguous United States. Before law school, Taryn worked in educational sales after obtaining her undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon. In her free time, Taryn loves watching college football with her husband (Go Ducks and Roll Tide!), horseback riding, and exploring Atlanta with her two dogs.

Taryn's practice areas primarily include personal injury litigation, including premises liability and commercial and personal auto accidents.
