Mother and her attorney agreed to consent to client's g ... uardianship but we agreed to allow unsupervised visitations at mother's parents' home. Mother took child to her parents' home and sneaked away to her boyfriend's house. Mother has medical emergency and leaves child with boyfriend to go to emergency room. Boyfriend allegedly beats child and severely injures child. State files deprived child action against mother and my client alleging "failure to protect." After a dozen or so hearings, State agreed to dismiss case because no evidence of any fault on my client's part. Guardianship amended and client remained guardian of child with supervised visitation to mother. Child is never adjudicated deprived and DHS out of picture.
