Stephen Edward Herchek

Stephen has always known he wanted to be an attorney. He readily admits that in middle school he was the class trouble maker that would get into arguments with the teacher. When he found out that there was a job where he could argue for a living, he was sold. As a fourteen-year-old freshman, Stephen tried out for his high school’s Mock Trial team, made the team, and has loved the courtroom ever since.

Stephen comes to The Law Office of Brian Jones with a diverse array of legal experience. His work has ranged from high profile drug cartel cases in the United States Attorney’s Office in Columbus to pro bono Landlord-Tenant issues in the Akron Law legal clinic. However, his passion lies in defending those wrongfully accused of criminal conduct.

In the fall, Stephen’s weekends are for football. He’s a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and more recently, the Akron Zips. Stephen’s brother coaches the receivers at Akron so Stephen makes it a priority to attend every home game. Football is definitely a family affair with the Hercheks. In the summer, Stephen loves to get outside. He likes racing sailboats, horseback riding, golf, and running (although he will always claim he’s “not a runner”). Stephen ran in his first Columbus Marathon in October 2017. In winter, Stephen spends his time eagerly awaiting spring.

As an attorney, Stephen focuses on you and what you want. Any attorney can assess legal issues, but what you need is someone who cares what’s going on in your life. Your life is more than just what you are charged with.

Stephen attended The Ohio State University and earned his Bachelor’s in Criminology and Sociology then went on to graduate Cum Laude from The University of Akron School of Law. At Akron Law, Stephen worked for the people of Akron, pro bono in Akron Law’s legal clinics. He spent time litigating housing issues for folks in Akron and helping those with convictions in their past to expunge their records and move on with their lives.
