Stephen A Fermelia

Stephen’s legal practice is devoted exclusively to litigation and arbitration, including the prosecution and defense of complex commercial claims and defense of tort claims. He has litigated a diverse array of cases, achieving success in trials before juries in Colorado and Wyoming.

His commercial litigation practice includes significant experience with the purchase and sale of residential mortgage loans on the secondary mortgage market and ancillary litigation and compliance issues. He has represented large institutional investors and banks and correspondent mortgage lenders and brokers. Additionally, he represents non-mortgage businesses and individuals in a variety of commercial litigation and business disputes.

Stephen’s experience as an insurance defense attorney (including a period as staff litigation counsel for a national insurance company) is exceptionally broad, including defense of professional malpractice suits, premises and auto liability claims, civil rights litigation, and claims of toxic exposure. His insurance defense clients have included restaurants, health clubs, homeowners, national and local trucking companies, municipalities, medical device manufacturers, hotels, retailers, oil and gas servicing companies, doctors, dentists, real estate appraisers, police officers, and numerous other businesses and individuals.
