I had never been in trouble with the law in my life and a domestic dispute with my wife ended with me in jail, a Washington State imposed no contact order, me looking at a year in jail and my record forever labeling me with a Domestic Violence 4 conviction. My rock bottom was in sight but I refu...sed to let it turn out that way. Having been out of work for a year and concerned with the last of my financials needing to going to keep my household running and not spent on a lawyer, I chose to use a Public Defender. After being out of jail for a week I realized that using a Public Defender was not an option. The system was/is not made to protect people in my situation. I made one random phone call to a lawyer and left a message on his office voice mail. Feeling instantly alone and ill as I was hanging up I was prompted by the call waiting on my phone to answer an incoming call. I could have went to trial and fought everything and won but my family had been through enough. He made sure that my wishes were met and also made sure that I got the best deal possible. The State wanted 5 years no contact with my wife, 364 days in jail, no rights to bare arms, DV classes for 12 months at my expense and fines! I ended up getting 2yrs. SOC, an 8hr anger management class, return of my rights, return home to my family and no more negative impacts to my family by going to trial and no jail. -Is a man of his word. He quoted me one flat fee and stuck to it. He fought for my case, traveled to me and worked way more hours than thought necessary, due to the lessons he had to give in law and the direction I wanted to take my case. Never a mention of more cost to me. - Is professional and also heartfelt. He cares about his clients and he is in this line of work to help people, not himself. I was out with my friend late at night parked in a park after hours and under the influence of Marijuana. I had been charged with a DUI ( although I was not driving I was in physical control of my vehicle). I was traveling through the Okanogan near Omak WA, when I was pulled over early Saturday morning. It really made all the difference that he understood what the prosecutor was going to do, and how to show our side of the story to the jury with our own experts as well as facts in the case that the prosecution was trying to deny us, to get a not guilty verdict. They say you are innocent until proven guilty, but going through this process I now know that the truth is, you really have to have a good attorney in your corner to prove your innocent because once you are arrested everyone assumes you are guilty.
