Sonya Kivisto

Sonya is a senior counsel member of the firm’s Trucking and Commercial Transportation, Insurance, and Commercial Litigation groups.

She is an experienced attorney with almost two decades of experience in Trucking and Insurance law. Most recently, Sonya worked as Litigation Director for the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania where she oversaw all aspects of litigation for county and county-related entities, assigned counsel to defend litigated claims, worked with outside counsel to strategize cases, drafted, and reviewed coverage denial letters and reservation of rights letters, and attended mediations with claims representatives to assist and train them. Additionally, she was registered as a lobbyist providing input on issues related to potential impact to county insurance coverage.

Prior to that, Sonya was a Partner with Marcello & Kivisto, LLC (2015-2022) working in Trucking and Commercial Transportation law and litigation. She has also held roles as a Partner with MK Claims Administrators overseeing their claims adjustment team and worked as an associate attorney for Thomas, Thomas & Hafer.

Sonya has also completed mediation training with the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. She is a cum laude graduate of Penn State Dickinson Law School and a summa cum laude graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
