When Professionalism Is Absent - Would Not Recommend

Ms. Ulrich was hired as an Assistant Law Director by the village I love and live in and was, quite frankly, a significant misstep by the administration in my opinion. It became evident quickly to myself, council and other residents that this individual was neither prepared for nor committed to... the responsibilities of the role. There were also concerning reports and perceptions from village staff regarding her conduct within village operations, including behavior that felt more aligned with workplace gossip and internal alliances than with the objectivity and discretion expected of a legal professional. Whether perceived or substantiated, this contributed to an environment that felt more reminiscent of high school dynamics than a professional municipal office. Council members reported being met with repeated silence when attempting to communicate via email, leaving important questions unanswered and matters unresolved. Equally concerning was her consistent absence from scheduled meetings, which are fundamental to fulfilling the duties of this position and supporting the function of local government. In fact Ms. Ulrich did not attend ONE council meeting during her tenure nor can I specifically name even one thing she was working on or completed during her time here. However, she had no problem collecting her taxpayer funded salary. Ultimately in my opinion, her decision to resign within a month of being hired only underscores her lack of professionalism, preparedness, and accountability demonstrated throughout her brief tenure. The behavior displayed was (in my opinion) ineffective, inexperienced, and, at times, juvenile, falling far short of what is expected from someone entrusted with serving the village in a legal capacity. I would not recommend her from my experience.
