About Salim
Biography
Salim Punjani was born in Chicago, Illinois. He lived with his family in the Chicago suburbs, where his father owned a pizza restaurant. When Salim was 12, his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. His father continued to pursue local business ownership and operation by buying convenience stores in Atlanta. His mother volunteered her time for community events and causes. Salim has one sister, who now works as a fifth grade teacher in South Carolina.
Salim's father suggested that he become a lawyer from a young age, mainly because Salim had a talent for arguing his way out of trouble as a child. When he was in high school, Salim held internships at Atlanta-based law firms during the summer, a job that had a long-lasting effect on his career. His other jobs during this time include assistant to a vice president at the investment firm Bear Sterns and occasionally helping at his father's stores. Also while in high school, Salim volunteered for youth camps and religious classes, worked as a logistics coordinator for Camp Mosaic, and played football.
Choosing to stay local for his undergraduate degree, Salim attended Emory University in Decatur, Georgia. He was very involved in his community while in college. Not only did Salim mentor inner-city youth at underfunded middle schools in metro Atlanta, but he also worked on behalf of veterans at the VA hospital in their clinical research sector. His position focused on veterans dealing with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, a group which Salim continues to help through representing disabled servicemen and women in their disability claims. His involvement earned Salim the Who's Who Among Student in American Universities award and the National Collegiate Minority Leadership award. Salim graduated from Emory with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology in 2003.
After moving to the Orlando area, Salim started law school at Barry University's Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law. He was a member of the Environmental Law Society and treasurer of the Animal Rights Law Society. He also earned two Book Awards in recognition of earning the highest grade in his workers' compensation and business organization classes. He took part in the Earth Advocacy clinic, a group which represented a Florida community in their fight to get a large corporation to clean up the land they had contaminated. He also worked on preliminary efforts to get the Gopher Tortoise listed as an endangered species.
In May 2008, while still in law school, Salim began working at the Coye Law Firm. He continued to work for the Coye Law Firm until June 2015 when he returned home to Atlanta and joined Morgan and Morgan.
