Ruth Z Plave

Ruth Z. Plave has over 20 years of experience as a trusts and estates attorney. Prior to starting her own firm on Long Island, she was associated for over 18 years with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, which is a large Wall Street law firm. Ms. Plave is a member of the bar of the State of New York. She is a member of the Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association, the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and the Surrogate’s Court Estates and Trusts Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association.

Ms. Plave received a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from New York Law School in 1994. An editor of the law review, Ms. Plave’s academic honors include the Professor Joseph T. Arenson Award for Excellence in Wills and Decedents’ Estates, the Professor Albert Kalter Award for Excellence in Tax Law and American Jurisprudence Awards in Legal Writing and Wills, Trusts and Future Interests.

Ms. Plave is very proud of the pro bono work that she has done over the years. She spearheaded the Cleary Gottlieb pro bono effort to assist with the administration of the estates of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. She received the Federal Bar Council Award in 2004 in appreciation for her service to the families of the uniformed rescuers who gave their lives to save others on September 11, 2001. Ms. Plave was the recipient of the Legal Aid Society Award for Pro Bono Achievement in 2003.

Ms. Plave has resided with her spouse in Mineola, New York for more than 30 years.
