Roya was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and returned to her hometown after several years of practicing family law in Austin, Texas.
While in law school at the University of Texas, Roya focused her studies on domestic violence and international human rights law. There, she gained a passion for empowering people and concentrated her work on matters regarding international family law. Roya was then awarded the 2020 Mike A. Myers Fellowship from the University of Texas School of Law Justice Center to further this work.
Before joining Modern Family Law, Roya provided family law services for a nonprofit organization, and spent several years passionately advocating for survivors of domestic violence and child abuse.
