If the judge at my divorce trial orders an equalization payment be made to me can I ask that it be labeled as spousal support?

NO.
First: equalization payments are no longer dischargeable in bankruptcy. ....but the court can't simply call an equalization payment spousal...

They'll probably intercept the entire refund. If he owes $20,000 in back support, he's also accruing $2,000 per year just in interest.

The child's not in the mix at all, legally. The amount of long term spousal support will depend on a bunch of facts, as listed in Fam. Code 4320.
