Biography
A member of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group, Rafael’s litigation practice focuses on insolvency, including commercial litigation defending financial institutions and corporations, as well as corporate bankruptcy proceedings and creditors’ rights.
Rafael’s recent experience includes defending a large international bank in one of the largest Ponzi schemes in the country’s history. Rafael also represented the world’s largest bowling franchise as chapter 11 debtor from 2012 to 2013.
Prior to joining the firm, Rafael was an associate in the Restructuring & Insolvency Group of McGuireWoods LLP in Richmond, Virginia. From 2011 to 2012, Rafael served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Margaret Mann of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California.
Rafael is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French.
