“It is rewarding to know that you were able to help someone and impact their life in a positive way during this time,” Ms. Harris said.

The trait Ms. Harris has found most useful is her ability to be patient and understanding with her clients.

“I understand that this is likely the first time a person will be going through this process,” she said. “Or, even if it is not their first time, each case is different and can involve various issues that a person has not previously dealt with.”

Ms. Harris understands there are no winners in a divorce. There also are situations where resolution is not possible and trial is inevitable.

“But to the extent possible, I would tell the client that my practice philosophy will always be to see if resolution can be reached where the client feels like they were heard and treated fairly,” she said.
