He’s a great attorney.
My exp with Mr Hatfield was eons ago, I’m all grown up NOW- he really stepped up for this girl who was as ditsy as my blond hair. I was clueless, or else maybe still traumatized, hard to say. Back then I didn’t know what a courtroom looked like, etc I was basically a kid. I wasn’t even 21 yet, and i...mmature to boot. I was 100 lbs, 5’4 bleach blond & tan, I figured I had it made. Lol. Oops. One day a cop roughed me up after he handcuffed me. But for no lawful reason. Being raised with 4 older boys - back then I was accustomed to getting beat up on a regular basis. I suppose I figured that’s just part of life. No big deal. But it was a big deal to Preston Hatfield. At least he had good sense bc I sure didn’t. And IT IS a big deal to me now that I’m older. I have kids that are 13-24 yo. I have a strict no violence policy. A non-jury trial(?) started and then it was over. Just like that. And he won. I won. We won, whatever. We weren’t there for money (probably should’ve been) I just didn’t want to be in trouble. I was so scared of being in legal trouble. This cop had no probable cause for anything. talked back to him, he didn’t like that. He was twice my size at least and threw me into a cinderblock wall. Hard. It’s a good thing I was a lot tougher back then than I am now. My gosh. I’m kinda surprised we didn’t kacching on that deal. Darn it. I never have been the type to sue people, I’m sure that’s why I’ve had such bizarre (? More like bad) luck. More ironies in life. Preston Hatfield did a great job for me. I feel ashamed of myself because I don’t recall expressing my gratitude properly. Wherever you are now Mr Hatfield- I’m so grateful to you, for doing such a great job in court for me- Thank You for being an excellent public defender for me. He made it all look EASY. But we all know nothing about court is easy. I didn’t even have to give my testimony. I’m glad too.
I spent the first 18 years of my life in a violent environment, i was good at getting my a** kicked. We didn’t have a parent but a guardian that would stop by to pick up a check once a month. So really. Clueless is an understatement.
Both cops in the incident had to testify separately. Preston did his thing, the cops stories were ehhemm not ok. It was obvious. The judge admonished them BOTH. One for sure got a report put in his file. I still remember the LeOs name too. I certainly hope the police officers never did that again to anyone. It was wrong and they did hurt me. Much more than just physically.
Thank you Preston Hatfield, for being a wonderful attorney. Thank you for standing up for me, because I absolutely needed that especially for that situation. You helped me a lot, I appreciate that so much.
All the best ~~
