Impressive

I retained him after deciding to end my near 40 year marriage. He sat me down prior to my paying any retainers and gave me the lay down on what to expect, how it would go, the laws as they applied to my situation, and the likely outcomes provided no surprises. I was very transparent with him (impor...tant point--tell your attorney everything and don't hold any secrets). Trust me, the ex will communicate them to her attorney. After due consideration, I paid the retainer and we got to work. I elected to pursue separation first, and then once largely completed--divorce. Matt had them wrapped up pretty well. I have a new relationship now, which I communicated to Matt which got me some rules to follow. Matt is busy. Patience is key to a good result. Keep him informed. He will get back to you. My process took two years start to finish. Given the complexities and the exes behaviors, I was pleased. Still a few surprises from the exes side made it a bit more difficult and Matt had tricks up his sleeves to get things accomplished. I'm pleased with how things turned out. One thing. Get counseling. Before you file and while you're working on your divorce. You'll be better off and a clear head and a good heart gets you further along.

Still married

I was referred to Matt by another professional for divorce proceedings. He was so thoughtful and kind and encouraged me to let my emotions settle before proceeding. This was such a different response than what I expected. I felt like he was definitely looking out for my best interest. If you wan...t to hire an attorney who has a heart I highly recommend Matt. He has a lot of wisdom and a tender heart. However, I have no doubt that he is a fierce defender of his client. I was blown away!

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
