Not focused on the client

My wife and I wanted a divorce. We separated amicably and worked out the details of the Settlement Agreement. I came to Kim because my wife was out of the country on a new job assignment and I was left in New Jersey to take care of the divorce, but I planned to move to Texas. I explained to Kim the u...rgency to expedite the process and how I wanted to use a lawyer to move the process along as quickly as possible. This divorce is as straight forward as it gets. No kids and no alimony. My wife and I already separated everything. We just needed someone to move this forward. I explained all this up front. Once she was retained, it's become difficult to contact her and it has become a slow process. The process has been hindered by her as she isn't responsive. Not only by her, but any question my wife has, she tells me she can't answer any of the questions and my wife has to retain another lawyer to have the questions answered by them. This has added a 2nd level of complexity to a straightforward process. Come to find out, if I wanted to move this along the quickest, I should have used a mediator. If she cared about the client and my need to expedite the process, she would have advised me to use a mediator because there wouldn't be a bunch of back and forth communication between lawyers and clients. I have lost a lot of time in the process because of her. She also avoids any phone calls from me and I'm forced to speak with her assistant. Her response to emails are minimal, which has put me in the position of calling on a regular basis.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
