I hired Doran in the 1980's when he had an office on Pavonia Avenue in Jersey City near the Hudson County Courthouse. He had the first floor of a house that had offices in it. I hired him for a criminal matter. This matter required a guilty plea and then a sentencing hearing a few months later. ... After paying him about $3,000, Doran told me he needed $10,000 to pay off the Judge in order to avoid prison. I told him I didn't believe him and fired him. I found another lawyer named John McGill who was great. I recall Mr McGill charging me $2500 for the entire proceeding and said that prison was not a likely outcome since this was my first offense and it was not a violent crime. As it turned out, I got probation. I subsequently made a complaint to the NJ Office of Attorney Ethics and the Attorney Generals Office. The prosecutor told me that they would make a file and keep it so that Doran would never become a Judge. Doran is a very unethical and greedy attorney. He knows who I am and I invite him to file a lawsuit if he wants to challenge what I wrote. I strongly advise that people not retain him. I still have the records of my contact with the Attorney General's office in Trenton about Mr "call me Jack" Doran which substantiates everything I've written here. People should really be warned.

Consistently provided bad advise. Inserted personal opinion rather than professional consultation. Made our situation adversarial and expensive when not required. Even unwittingly shared his shady business model relative to estates as if our family would accept his point of view as ethical. Stay away.... I have worked with many attorneys, including at the highest level, and Doran stands out as the low point in my life experience with the profession.
