No respect for disabled teachers, yet he represents them for NJEA

I am disabled with autoimmune disorders, asthma, PTSD. Just diagnosed with possible cancerous tumors. Retired after 25 yrs, lost 2 appeals w/o legal rep. Atty. steps in thanks to NJEA, and despite rave reviews I heard from rep, appears to have no stomach for doing research and legwork, keeping stres...s off of me (stress worsens my health conditions). I have to get and provide him with most of my documents!Had he stepped in back in January and challenged TPAF regarding the fraudulent IME report the decision was ultimately based on, when TPAF was IGNORING the Philadelphia specialist I have been seeing for over 12 years, I wouldn't be writing this-- I would have my pension, and I would be a happy camper. This guy lacks bark AND bite; is too "nice" to be a good lawyer; you have to be EVIL and as underhanded as they are to deal with the TPAF. He didn't believe in my case from the get-go, and it was evident from the comments he made. He writes good letters, but his words don't inspire any fear in opponents. He actually dissuaded one of my doctors from testifying on my behalf, another doctor would not talk to him because he thought he "didn't know what he was doing" (Doctor is Philly-based, CV longer than your arm). When I got a letter May 5 saying my pension was granted, even though it was court docketed oAL in October, he was too lazy/preoccupied to call and verify the letter. Weeks later, when I found out by accident that the letter was obviously "a mistake", he DID call then, and told me to call the Secretary of TPAF, she wanted to talk to me (HIS job, I was told they would answer only to HIM). He left me hanging to do the dirty work, trying to make me roll over, play dead, and had the audacity to demand I return the check, despite the fact I had paid my credit cards, and the bills had cleared. When my retro check, which had cleared my checking acct.several days before, was stolen out of my account by TPAF, no warning or explanation, money snatched back from credit card companies, he stood by and did NOTHING. When he contacted me five days later, telling me he could not get emails to me because I "had no service", I told him I DO have a phone-- and fired him. If you want someone to fight for you, to work for the fee you pay him- this is not the guy. If you want a charming will maker, negotiator, someone that basically can just sit back and not work too hard, then this is your lawyer. NJEA disability clients beware- this lawyer isn't cut out for defending us!

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
