I needed a lawyer to help settle my dad's estate since the executorship was handed over to me with little to no knowledge of this affairs. I explained this to Mr. Fischer who charged me $1700 retainer. For that money I met him at the Probate court (after going to his office by mistake) and we went ...through the process of transferring executorship to me. The only other thing he did for me (or should I say his paralegal) was send a letter to my sister requesting information. When I asked for an itemized bill I received a document that simply said.....$1700...legal fees. At the very most he spent maybe 4 hours at $295/hour. I was extremely disappointed. I came to find out later that his business was primarily Bankruptcies. I guess that describes most lawyers. At least I would have expected him to refer me to someone else, since I made it clear that I was a woman of modest means...
