Since I was the only one working on the case, the client was never contacted by the paralegal and the paralegal never received any message from them, so we're confused as to how the paralegal refused to talk to her. State Bar rules prohibit me from discussing the case with anyone other than the client who signed the contract. The client's husband did not sign the contract, and therefore, was not our client. Once we received the permission from the client, it was not a problem. This was explained to them. And there was no court in which to be ready. I was only hired to contact the father and send him the affidavit relinquishing parental rights, which I did. Perhaps another attorney would be a better fit.
