Ms. Cox, from Family Law Group in Livermore Ca, represented me in a harrowing divorce against a very abusive and contemptuous ex husband. My case was complicated because he wanted it that way. Although no custody/child support or mutual investments were involved, I needed an attorney who was well ver...sed in real estate, finances, property law, and domestic violence, (my ex was criminally facing charges for 3 counts of DV). My attorney, Morgan Cox, was nothing less than the perfect attorney...dedicated, knowledgeable, prepared, and honest. She has an abundant amount of common sense, and a great memory, when I talked to her I really felt she understood I didn't have to remind her of anything. Ms. Cox was organized and proactive, she could back up what she said. When she went to bat for me through her role, a divorce attorney, I felt more confidence than I have had in a long time. I was scared, worried, it was a tough time. Deciding to divorce my ex was nerve wracking. I was advised to get a "bulldog" attorney, someone aggressive, someone with teeth, my ex is an abuser, just plain a bully. I interviewed a few attorneys and I chose very different than a "bulldog". I hired Morgan Cox because I got a sense she was smart and competent. My attorney, Ms. Cox, could prove everything of importance to the case she stated or wrote. On a compassionate side, she worked very hard to research and understand specific ADA, my illness, companion animal custody, and the law as it related to a "criminal protection order" and a "civil protective order" she helped me through advocacy to obtain both. Ms.Cox was on guard and she was no ones fool, she quickly figured out my ex, she was on point with expecting retaliation and non-cooperation, she "gets it" even protecting my companion animals. Ms. Cox knows which battles to fight; ex not providing disclosures, ex disobeying court orders, he was sanctioned, we filed contempt, and more...In the beginning, my time in front of the judge was monopolized mainly by his attorney speaking of frivolous unrelated allegations and impossible financial demands, attacks against my character, and tactics to muddy the water and delay the divorce. NOW THE GOOD NEWS! On a scale from 1 to 10 this divorce should have been a 2-3 in difficulty but in honesty it was a 10. It was a horrible divorce but that's because of who I was divorcing. I now have my life back! I have my companion animals safely with me, and we are happy! I don't worry about my ex taking them and harming them. Myself and two children have two strong protective orders against my ex. I was able to keep the home and all assets I bought before I married, I don't have to pay him spousal support, the property division didn't bankrupt me, my ex was convicted so he has to take long term DV classes (I pray he doesn't abuse anyone else) He paid restitution for one of his bad behaviors during the divorce. I will say although I'm still dealing with terminal Cancer, I'm very grateful to Morgan Cox. My best interest was definitely protected, my attorney worked hard on my divorce case and my experience with her was that she is top notch and can handle anything thrown at her in the courtroom pretty impressively.
