To the extent your SS benefits are exempt from creditor's claims, it should not matter how many checking accounts you maintain.

I am not aware of any law that would prevent an "old" landlord from speaking to a "new" landlord.

I am not licensed in MS and you should consult an attorney there - but here in NJ a group home is permitted in an area zoned for single family...
