Recognized by his peers in 2016 as a Northern California Super Lawyers Rising Star, Mr. Levinson is an accomplished litigator known for his tenacity in pursuing justice for victims of corporate misconduct.
While working at Brayton Purcell, LLP, Mr. Levinson represented clients in cases that resulted in some of the largest verdicts and settlements for people with mesothelioma and asbestos diseases.
In particular, Mr. Levinson played an instrumental role in helping the Whalen family in the matter of Robert Whalen and Linda Whalen vs. John Crane, Inc., et al. attain a $71 million plaintiffs' verdict in 2014 as a result of Mr. Whalen's exposure to asbestos while serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr Levinson has also worked closely with numerous other victims of corporate malfeasance leading to over $20 million in combined settlements against Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Levinson has multiple years of litigation experience in all facets of personal injury and wrongful death cases in both state and federal court. This includes but is not limited to:
* taking and defending the depositions of hundreds of plaintiffs, percipient witnesses, experts, and persons most knowledgeable;
* making regular law and motion appearances in all Bay Area jurisdictions, including arguing dispositive motions, discovery disputes, and contested ex parte matters;
* drafting and filing numerous oppositions to dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment and summary adjudication;
* supervising a large caseload, including propounding and responding to discovery, interviewing witnesses, evaluating cases for settlement, reviewing expert reports, attending case management and mandatory settlement conferences, and preparing cases up to trial;
* assisting with trial work, including drafting and opposing motions in limine, drafting trial briefs, preparing jury questionnaires and jury instructions, and page-lining designated deposition testimony.
Mr. Levinson attended law school at the University of Miami School of Law and graduated, cum laude, in 2010. While in law school, he externed for the Honorable Maxine M. Chesney of the United States District Court, Northern District of California and worked as a code enforcement intern with the San Francisco City Attorney's Office. Additionally, Mr. Levinson was a member of the University of Miami International & Comparative Law Review, where he served as Articles and Comments Editor. He authored (F)linging (I)nstitutional (F)reedoms (A)side: Why FIFA's "6+5" Will Not Survive, 17 U. MIAMI INT'L & COMP. L. REV. 191 (2010). Mr. Levinson also received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement for outstanding performance in Legal Research & Writing. Prior to law school, he attended the University of California, Berkeley and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2005.
