Michael R. Heath

At CoreCloudEdge, Michael handles technology procurement, licensing and distribution agreements, professional services agreements, marketing review and agreements, and miscellaneous corporate contracts and transactions.

Michael worked on similar matters in the Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions group at Cairncross & Hempelmann. Michael also led the firm’s domestic and international trademark practice.

While in the Media & Information Technology group at Dow Lohnes in Washington, D.C., Michael worked on contract, regulatory and litigation matters for clients in the newspaper, broadcast, cable television, radio and other communications industries, including Cox Communications, Gannett Satellite, Comcast, Adelphia, Time Warner, Belo Interactive Media and others.  His work included counseling in advertising, consumer trade regulation, antitrust and unfair competition, content and software licensing, website data collection, privacy policies and user agreements, prosecution of trademark applications, domain name management and UDRP arbitration proceedings, trademark, trade secret and copyright enforcement.

In addition to his technology experience, Michael spent time as a litigator in the Trial, Regulatory and Technology practice group at Dorsey & Whitney, and as a business partner in the Jacobsen Heath Wealth Management Group at UBS Financial Services, Inc.

Michael is a 2005 graduate of the Washington State Bar Association Leadership Institute, and received the WSBA Excellence in Diversity Award in 2009 for his work founding and leading the Washington Minority Bar Association Collaboration Project and its annual statewide diversity conference.  Michael was the founding president of QLaw: the GLBT Bar Association of Washington and serves on the National Leadership Council of Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund.

Michael graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law in 2000 and clerked for Justice Mary Fairhurst of the Washington Supreme Court.
