Excellent Service

Mark provided guidance and excellent legal advice on several occasions when faced with customers who did not want to pay for services rendered. In addition to that, I have attended his seminars on Payment Remedies, which greatly reduced situations where we had no recourse. Our collections percentage ...increased dramatically. When our company merged, he recommended another attorney in his firm, who also provided excellent service. Mark definitely improves the image of lawyers!

All about $$

I hired him to collect money owed to me from an Arizona-based LLC and an individual. The entire time he was more busy trying to collect money from me than collecting money from the defendants for me. I felt he purposely ran up time to get another set of retainer. When I told him that I will review... the ledger (as I always do for any attorneys), he became very upset and defensive. Before I knew it, he filed a motion to withdraw as a counsel, and left the case completely open. This was a case where I was trying to collect money from a client, I was a CONTRACTOR. However he kept wasting his time (or my money) trying to figure out whether there was a wage issue. I don't know how I could be more clear that I was not an employee, I was a contractor. I have come across some attorneys that only care about the money they make, no matter what the outcome may be, but I felt this attorney was the worst of all.

This client's matter was aggresively contested by opposing counsel and a counterclaim was filed against her and her company. She never paid more than her original $5k retainer amount, and my firm and I were compelled to withdraw from further representation due to nonpayment and refusal to replenish the retainer. I later learned that her prior counsel was also unpaid. Adding insult to economic injury, this person is now defaming me with posts such as this. My mistake was not recognizing sooner that this person is a bad apple. In 16 years of practice, I've had to withdraw from represention approximately five times. Unfortunately, this was one of those times.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
