Divorce

I was not respected by this attorney Email phone calls paperwork everything was late. She did not have my back at all. Lots of excuses. Needless to say I lost everything. I explained in detail, simply my case and heads up on what to expect. I was completely disregarded. I was desperate and had paid ...all my fees. I wanted to find another attorney but had exhausted my funds. Hindsight, I would have been better off having no attorney than having her. There are better attorneys in town as I had to file bankruptcy after. 2 other attorneys I counsulted could not believe the situation I was left in. I really did not want to write this review but I must, as I cannot ignore what happened. I encourage anyone who considers hiring her to research her history before handing over your legal obligations.

Not a good choice

The separation agreement that I initially hired Marjorie to write was to have been started in November 2008. I gave her everything she needed to begin, yet it wasn't done in January 2009 (and that could have prevented several troubles I'm having now with reaching a settlement with my husband). The d...ivorce papers that she said would be ready for my signature around Feb. 6-7 weren't ready until the 13th. I was told my husband would be served a few days later on the 16th or 17th, yet I was called on the 20th and asked if I wanted her people to serve him or not, and he was finally served on the 26th. This caused additional awkwardness between my husband and I since I was assuming he had been served and was acting like nothing happened. I had several pressing questions about what was going on with my case and I was told she'd have time to make my case her priority when she returned from a vacation, but I heard nothing for weeks after her return. I still don't understand what my husband's "response" means -- his signature on an essentially blank piece of paper? -- and it took two emails sent weeks apart before I learned that all of my options were exhausted and the next step was to go to trial. That was weeks of me not knowing what's going on and weeks for me to wonder why my lawyer/assistants wouldn't tell me anything. I have am not a charity case and I am not a rude or aggressive person. I paid Marjorie's going rate for for her services and consistently encountered inexplicable delays and sparse (if-any) explanations. I do not recommend hiring her.

This means the lawyer did something wrong but the bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
