Marie Barraza Desmond

Marie is a life saver. I was at the point I had no more chances. Multiple time felon, strung out and looking at going to prison. Marie listened. She cared and helped. Without her I would have gone but I didn’t. She fought for me. She persuaded the DA to work with me. Today I am employed, have my kid...s and family back in my life and just bought a 5 bedroom house by myself. Without her believing in my and fighting for me I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you Marie. I love you for being who you are, a blessing and a genuinely good hearted person.

Marie helped me contest a violation of a restraining order (non-violent, consisting only of asking my separated husband for help as I had been told by my doctor that I might have cancer and needed more tests immediately.) The judge stated in open court that he thought a person with Bipolar II and ...panic and obsessive disorders should have managed to not call my husband! I served 60 days in jail for this. Marie did her best for me at all times throughout the process, but in the words of the great German writer Schiller "In the face of stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain." The judge in question has just been elevated to the Federal Bench. Marie deserves a gold medal.
