Industry knowledge not current

We hired Laurel to represent us in P&S review in our single family home purchase. She did a fine job with standard P&S review, however didn't give us the full market picture that a qualified legal representative is expected to provide. FACT: In MA state most closing attorneys do P&S review for free a...s part of closing the sale and dual representation (lender and borrower) by the same attorney is allowed. However, Laurel made us believe that P&S review is typically not done by closing attorneys and is a separate undertaking. This resulted in additional P&S review charges for us in addition to closing attorney charges in the end. As a compromise we asked Laurel to be our closing attorney to avoid duplication of services and costs but she refused. The reason being she doesn't work for one of the top three mortgage lenders in the country that we were lending from ! She recommended her colleague to us, but it turned out that the colleague didn't have the closing experience we were looking for. In the end we had to pay double of what a typical closing attorneys costs would be for a transaction. I would not recommend her given that her industry knowledge doesn't seem up-to-date. Try to find lawyers who would have done multiple closings for lender you are working with in the area you live in

I am sorry that you feel you had a poor experience with this office. While I am unable to discuss the specifics of any legal matter in a public forum, I continue to welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you directly to try to address your concerns. Best wishes.

Experienced - No Nonsense Real Estate Attorney

Laurel is a consummate professional. We had engaged her services to represent us for the sale of our longtime family home and again for the purchase of a new home. Laurel was always quick to return a phone call, send e-mail messages and coordinate all phases of the transaction. With a keen eye fo...r detail, Laurel prepared all the necessary documents and explained the process along the way. Selling and buying a home is an inherently emotional and stressful process but Laurel seemed to take all of that in stride. We are grateful to have had the right attorney navigating us to a glitch-free closing day. Thank You Laurel.

Great Attorney

Laurel helped my business partner and me draft an operating agreement for our LLC. It's important to get a new business off to good start and Laurel really helped. She is professional, courteous and offered us great, practical advice! Thank you, Laurel !

Knowledgeable, reliable and effective. Goes above and beyond.

We retained Laurel to represent us in the purchase of a bank-owned property in November of 2014. While we were aware of the potential pitfalls involved in buying a foreclosed property, nothing could have prepared us for the “special” circumstances we were to encounter over the next 9 months. Laurel o...ffered sound advice and clear explanations throughout the otherwise murky process. She never left a question or concern unanswered and followed through on what she said she would do and when she would do it, without fail. She is skilled, sharp, and works hard for her clients. She also happens to have a great sense of humor and attitude that helped put things into perspective on more than one occasion. Laurel went above and beyond for us and we are extremely grateful. We hope to work with her again when we identify another property and would gladly recommend her to friends and family. Without a doubt, Laurel Siegel is the attorney you want on your side, protecting your interests and advocating for you from start to finish.

Knows the laws, knows the territory, knows the people: thumbs up

We recently hired Laurel to help us sell our house in Cambridge, MA. As we now live in California, we needed someone local to Cambridge who knew the legal requirements. We were REALLY pleased with the work Laurel did for us: she knew all the (zillions) of rules and requirements and skillfully guide...d us through the process. When it came to straightening out details on the title, she knew exactly who to contact to resolve the issues. And it was always a pleasure to talk to her: she was cheerful and to the point, clear in her communications. We felt we got an excellent value for our money, and we would recommend Laurel without hesitation for future real estate work.
