I hired this attorney for a litigation under a retainer agreement. The attorney represented herself as having expertise in technology law and commercial litigation that she in fact does not have which became evident throughout our engagement because she could not come up with arguments to recover... damages and unfortunately we could not switch attorneys in the middle to relieve ourselves. After looking at her background it appears she was an asbestos attorney for many years at her former law firm although Avvo has her listed as something different. When confronted with the perceived poor performance, attorney said that she was doing the "minimum" for me because she was upset about the fee she was receiving. Her fee had been negotiated ahead of time and there was no indication she would put less thought or activity into the case as a result of the fee she accepted. For example on just what the minimum means - it was me, the client, who had to write the complaint, had to find the causes of actions, had to get other people to access westlaw to find history. At the end of the engagement there was a bill for over $30,000. The work performed was mostly administrative(filing, etc) by this solo practioner, and most of the meat and thought was performed by myself, even the writing.
