Joshua Eric Friedman

Joshua Friedman left the private practice of law in Boston, and now is a Protection Programme Manager with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).  He is based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, and his work there focuses on issues of refugee and asylum law and rights.  Previously, Mr. Friedman worked internationally for UNHCR and other agencies in Zimbabwe on a variety of human rights issues and for the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) in Tajikistan with a focus on gender equality and women's rights.

Previously, Mr. Friedman practiced with Bernkopf Goodman LLP in Boston in its litigation group and is experienced both as a trial and appellate advocate. His practice there included a focus on resolving title and real practice includes a focus on resolving title and real property disputes. He also served an assistant district attorney for nearly five years in the Middlesex and Suffolk Counties in Massachusetts prior to joining Bernkopf Goodman.

Mr. Friedman is a member of the bars of Maine and Massachusetts as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.  He is also a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, though currently non-practicing in the UK.
