John Dorsey is an attorney licensed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts. As an attorney, he has handled matters in jurisdictions across the United States, primarily focusing on litigation and transactional matters in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Previously, he served as a senior associate at Richardson Patel, LLP, where he helped open the firm's Princeton, New Jersey office. He also served as the Assistant General Counsel for the Philadelphia-based Keating Building Company, a leading construction management and general contracting company at which he worked for almost five years, both before and after its acquisition by the Tutor Perini Corporation (NYSE: TPC). While in Massachusetts he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where he represented the Commonwealth on a range of construction, eminent domain, civil rights and contractual matters. He also prosecuted zoning, building and housing code violations for the City of Boston, where he also lead the distressed property team.
John has a broad range of litigation experience. He has worked on more than one hundred cases in multiple jurisdictions, including pre-litigation presentment issues, complaints, responsive pleadings, discovery, pre and post-trial motions, arbitrations and mediations. Representative cases include:

His transactional experience also includes advising public and private companies on risk management and avoidance issues related to contractual matters. He also regularly performed risk analysis on a number of federal and state public bids in multiple jurisdictions. In the area of business law, John managed, and advised on, the conversion of a Pennsylvania corporation to a Delaware limited liability company, and the successor entity's re-registration in each jurisdiction the predecessor entity was registered to transact business. He also advised on the formation and operation of a company providing regulated medical services.
Regulatory work is another area of John's experience. John has worked on various regulatory issues for gaming vendors in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as community process regulations under the new Massachusetts gaming law. Reviewing and drafting legislation, developing policy to implement regulatory codes involving construction and zoning, and interpreting the application of regulations and statutes are other areas of his regulatory experience. He has also advised on the regulatory requirements for nurse practitioner operated companies and the requirements for medical directors.
Mr. Dorsey's diverse range of professional experience was also developed working in government and the media for more than 10 years. Prior to becoming an attorney, John served as deputy communications director for Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino after also working as a general assignment television reporter, news writer and assignment desk assistant. Mr. Dorsey has worked on many political campaigns in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. He has also served on the media relations staff at several national political conventions during various presidential election cycles.
John Dorsey is a graduate of Boston University and Suffolk University Law School. He attended Saint Johns High School in Shrewsbury Massachusetts. Mr. Dorsey is an accomplished oarsman of more than 20 years, including four years on the NCAA Division I BU Varsity men's crew team where he also served as team captain.
