Joanna Cathleen Funke

I am an Associate at Flicker, Kerin, Kruger & Bissada, LLP in the firm's Family Law Department.  My diverse background allows me to handle all aspects of family law matters, and I enjoy empowering my clients and helping them to resolve issues efficiently and in the best interest of their families. 

I received my Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University Law School in May 2013, earning the National Association of Women Outstanding Law Graduate Award as well as the President’s Volunteer Service Award.  While in law school, I participated in the Domestic Violence Project and Family Justice Litigation clinics, providing pro bono services to victims of domestic violence.

After law school, I served as a Law Fellow for a nonprofit domestic violence organization in Washington, D.C. and then as a Law Clerk for two Child Abuse and Neglect judges at the D.C. Superior Court.  While clerking, I gained valuable insight into the fact-finder’s position and continued to work in highly confidential, emotional, and complex matters.  After moving back to the west coast, I worked as an associate attorney for two small family law firms in the Bay Area.  Prior to entering the legal field, I worked in the contracts and financing departments of a government contractor and leasing company.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005.
