Joe’s practice encompasses general commercial litigation and insurance coverage litigation and counseling, with a particular focus upon disputes involving attorney fees. His commercial litigation and appellate experience includes -- in jurisdictions throughout the United States -- prosecution and defense of various contractual and commercial disputes, professional liability defense, defense of product liability actions, and defense of contractors in various liability contexts

Joe specializes in handling attorney fee disputes (including some of the largest fee dispute cases in the country), and has negotiated and implemented fee agreements and litigation management plans in large complex litigation, including plans that address the ongoing assessment and characterization of attorney fees.

Joe’s insurance coverage practice deals primarily with first-party property disputes, providing advice and representation from initial coverage determinations to successful representation of insurers on a variety of issues at the trial and appellate level across the country

has extensive experience with attorney fee issues, including: • counseling clients on litigation management; • assisting clients in evaluating the reasonableness and necessity of attorney fees; • assisting clients with legal bill review and legal fee audits; and • assisting clients in managing their ongoing relationships with outside counsel
