Jennifer A LaFortune

Ms. LaFortune is a second-generation attorney, licensed in the State of Arizona since 2001 and the Federal District Court for the District of Arizona since 2007. She holds a B.A. from the University of Arizona, a J.D. from Pepperdine University, and an LL.M (Master of Laws) from Arizona State University. Ms. LaFortune elected in 2012 to return to law school and earn an LL.M in E-Commerce and Technology (May 2012) after realizing the extent to which every facet of the law is touched and tweaked by computers and the Internet.

Experience:

Ms. LaFortune most recently served as In-House Counsel for Seacret Direct, an international direct sales company specializing in high-end skin care products from the Dead Sea.  She also previously served as the Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Queen Creek and Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and has tackled a wide array of legal matters in fourteen years of consulting. She is most often noted for her skill at negotiating agreement among multiple adverse parties and meticulously drafting documents. The bulk of her time as a municipal attorney was spent managing Elected Official-related issues as well as the day-to-day workings of municipal corporations in Arizona. She has drafted, negotiated, and seen to fruition the first-ever understanding between the Pinal County Deputies' Association and the County, regarding working conditions.

She has been liberally praised for her personal skills and warm, approachable air, which give her an ability to be an un-lawyer type of lawyer, allowing clients to feel comfortable to ask questions and be proactive and involved in their representation.

Hobbies and Interests:

Ms. LaFortune is a lawyer, a writer, a blogger, a social media junkie, a tech-y toy fan, a planner of events on grand scales, and frequent public speaker.  She is deeply involved in a world-wide philanthropic costuming organization, serving five years as the Public Relations manager and then Commanding Officer for the eighty members in the local Arizona chapter of the 501st Legion. In support of her charitable pursuits, she travels regularly to engage in public speaking and representation of the organization and sister groups. Frequently, Ms. LaFortune speaks on being female and attempting to costume in genres traditionally dominated by male characters. Her worldwide network of associates in the Geek Realm is vast.
