Hello. My name is Jim Lewis and I've practiced personal injury law for over 30 years. I'm licensed to practice law in Virginia and North Carolina and regularly handle cases in state and federal courts. I specialize in medical malpractice and complex personal injury cases.
Through my 30 years of law practice, I've developed a strong reputation in the legal community. I have highest rating (AV) granted to attorneys from Martindale-Hubbell Lawyer Rating Service and am listed as a Virginia "Super Lawyer" (since '06).
I've lectured to doctors and lawyers regarding injury law and am an active member of the American Association of Justice and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
When I'm not practicing law, I enjoy NASCAR and am a licensed pilot.

Medical malpractice representation is unique and the attorneys locally that practice in this area are few. Jim continuously demonstrates the skills necessary to wage the wars that this type of litigation entails for his clients.

Do you need a lawyer, and if so, how do you choose who's right for you? These are important and tough questions for anyone who's considering legal action, or been injured or in an accident. I know Jim personally, and I know he's there to answer those questions-- right off the bat, his website is deigned to do that. Jim's a true fighter as a lawyer, but equally as important, as one of his clients says, ""Jim is not just my lawyer, he's my friend." He's a great lawyer who knows how to be there for his clients. I strongly recommend you use Jim Lewis. But don't just take my word for it. Take a look at what his clients say: http://www.hsinjurylaw.com/testimonials.cfm

I endorse this lawyer. I am pleased to recommend Jim Lewis as an excellent attorney. As a member of the International Society of Primerus Law firms he has been recognized as an experienced and successful attorney. Since the membership in the Society is by invitation only a client can be assured that he represents the highest standards of legal skill and ethical practices. He cares about his clients and that care and attention to details is evident to his peers. A client in trouble would be well-served if he or she had attorney Lewis representing them in a personal injury case.

Hiring an attorney can be extremely daunting, however you can rest assured that Jim Lewis and his firm Shapiro, Lewis, Appleton & Favaloro are the best in their field in both Virginia and North Carolina. They have received the highest recognition by the legal community, but more importantly, they have the case results to back up the praise. If your case has to go to trial, you want Jim Lewis representing you. His qualifications are outstanding - not only does he have decades of courtroom experience, but his position as an Adjunct Professor at William and Mary teaching trial advocacy shows that he also has the knowledge to fight for your legal rights throughout the duration of your case. With all of his past verdicts and settlements, along with the praise and achievements he has gathered along the way, I highly recommend Jim Lewis and Shapiro, Lewis, Appleton & Favaloro for anyone looking for a Personal Injury or Medical Malpractice attorney in Virginia or North Carolina.
