Condescending & Doesn't Care About You

Attorney Ibongo is one of the most inconsiderate, deprecating individuals I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. She was my assigned public defender, and upon our FIRST phone consultation, she laughed at me when I tried to explain myself to her, telling me to "cut the s**t." She then proceeded... to tell me I obviously didn't care about improving my position, implying it was my fault if I were convicted. The mission and values page of the Maryland Office of the Public Defender's website states their goal to be "Justice, Fairness, & Dignity For All" through a focus on "Diversity and Inclusion, a Culture of Excellence, being United in [Our] Mission, Tenacious Advocacy, and being Client Centered." My experience with attorney Ibongo reflects absolutely none of those characteristics. She does not listen to her clients, she does not care about her clients, and most importantly, she does not respect her clients. I understand that public defenders are overburdened, with workloads far exceeding the levels that they should be at. However, that is absolutely no excuse to demean clients, and treat them with so little human dignity to where they are truly afraid to attempt to contact her again.
