Divorce

I was represented by Jennifer Behme in a nasty divorce proceeding in St. Clair County Circuit Court. Ms. Behme is definitely the attorney you want on your side. I hired her because she had more than a decade of handling family law cases. She was well-versed in the law. She was well- prepared ...in Court. She returned my phone calls and responded to my emails, which were many. She seemed to have a good relationship with the judge and opposing counsel seemed to be intimidated by her. She did a great job.

Overpriced, Overhyped, Underdelivered, Untrustworthy, Conniving

To start off with at least one good thing about her, it’s obvious she has a lot of legal knowledge. However, now with all of the bad things, Jennifer Behme is an overhyped, overpriced, untrustworthy lawyer who uses those skills to maximize her own money profits and does nothing to make sure you get ...the proper defense in court or in a settlement. You could hire a lower priced lawyer who could have gotten better, if not similar results. There was one of many bad experiences where she knew a court order was approved for me to visit my kid, and my ex-wife’s lawyer was saying the order was approved so I could see my kid, but Behme waited a long time to finally tell me the court order was approved and could visit my son. Unfortunately, I listened to my ex-wife’s lawyer and got my kid anyways before Behme told me, so I could theoretically give good compliments to my ex-wife’s lawyer, (but won’t). Behme is also a master of not recommending anything, but sputtering a bunch of vague, nebulous legal facts that oftentimes takes her almost a week to type a letter memo that she charges hundreds of dollars to both mail and e-mail you. If you ask her to explain the memo, she’ll charge you more for explaining it. I also remember all the grammatical errors and typos in all those memos she charged so much for. She was also “amazing (insert sarcasm)” at not defending me in court, getting chummy with the judge and my ex-wife’s lawyer, watching me get walked over, but yet “amazing (no sarcasm)” in acting as my ex-wife’s second lawyer. As another disclaimer Belleville lawyers also appear to have a close-knit network to collectively maximize profits, so I would recommend looking outside of Belleville or the Metro East St Louis area if you plan to go to court with another lawyer in Belleville.

Unsatisfied

I hired Jennifer in April, 2014, for a hearing in May, 2014. However, she went on maternity leave, and the case was passed to another attorney. Upon return, the case had fallen apart and the other attorney put in a motion to withdraw. She didn't object to the motion, but agreed. Because she was still... my attorney until the motion was done, I clearly stated that I was requesting that a disposition of stay to be put in affect, to prevent my spouse from spending his pension money. She advised she couldn't because his pension money was his, and I had terminated my rights when we became legally separated, although that was not noted in legal separation order. I was requesting pension from the time "DURING THE MARRIAGE and wanted a "disposition of stay" for that portion. Since temporary alimony has run out and the case is still going on, I asked for another request for temporary alimony to be done. She stated that she couldn't, because she is withdrawing from the case, and it is not enough time. before the motion to withdraw hearing. My issue is unwillingto fully represent you. It will help by thoroughly understanding the needs of your client, and the laws that protect those needs.

There aren't enough superlatives to accurately describe how great Jennifer is!

Jennifer is an excellent divorce attorney. I came to her with a case that was almost 2 years old and she helped me move the case to final within two months. She was pivotal to keeping the case from going to court by reaching an agreement giving both parties what they wanted. Jennifer is concise, clea...r, and efficient. The person who referred her to me described her as a "bulldog" and she definitely is. She was exactly what I needed and well worth every penny spent. I highly recommend Jennifer Behme.

Excellent attorney

Met with Jennifer about possible divorce and child custody matter. She was a wealth of information, down to earth and considerate of my feelings. Turned out that things were resolved. If I ever need to go forward on these matters I will definitely hire her. Very impressed.
