Ian Elliot Kaplan

After graduating from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2017, Ian joined Berger Kahn’s Irvine office as an associate. His ability to transition smoothly between litigated and non-litigated matters has made him a strong addition to the team. His practice focuses primarily on insurance coverage, including commercial and personal lines, and employment law matters, such as wage and hour, sexual harassment, and retaliation. Ian has handled numerous cases and prepared legal opinions on a range of matters, including general liability, construction defect, uninsured/underinsured motorists, commercial leases, and commercial transactions.

Before joining Berger Kahn, Ian participated in the Business Law Clinic at University of Oregon School of Law, in which he gained practical experience with legal issues concerning contracts, leases, entity formation, and other business matters for general contractors and LLCs under the mentorship of practicing attorneys while providing free legal services to Oregon business owners. As a result of his dedication to public service, Ian received the Pro Bono Award for providing pro bono legal services to underserved populations of the Oregon community.

An Orange County native, Ian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from University of California, Irvine in 2014.

As the former Legal Basketball Association Commissioner at University of Oregon, Ian continues to spend his free time playing basketball and tennis and watching college and professional sports.
