Holly Crawford

Holly Crawford was raised on the Big Island of Hawai’i, a community which fostered her strong purpose to protect and defend the beauty of the natural world and the animals here with us. Following this calling, Ms. Crawford graduated from University of California Davis with a B.S. in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning. She then proudly attended University of Hawai’i at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law, where she became one of only a handful of students to hold two certificates – Environmental Law and International Law – alongside her J.D.

During her doctorate studies, Ms. Crawford authored her legal thesis Microplastic Meat: Are the U.S. and E.U. Effectively Regulating Microplastics in Animal Feed? which highlights the gross and seemingly unavoidable mistreatment of farmed animals even in the face of strong legislation meant to protect them. Ms. Crawford, further, worked as Program Officer for the Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-Proliferation & Disarmament, during which time she co-chaired a conference within the United Nations Human Rights Council 53rd Session. With the Beyond Guilt Hawai’i legal clinic, Ms. Crawford fought for unfairly sentenced individuals. She also aided in the Environmental Law Clinic and served as Student Animal Legal Defense Fund Vice President.

After her doctorate, Ms. Crawford worked at the State of Hawai’i Capitol and helped write, file, and pass legislation that now protects the rights of women, disabled kupuna, animals and the land of Hawai’i.

Holly now resides in Washington state, working under the guidance of the esteemed Adam P. Karp with Animal Law Offices, PLLC. Her sole proprietorship Holly Y. Crawford Attorney at Law also serves as Legal Counsel for a diverse portfolio of organizations, including nonprofit, agricultural, financial services, and student loan management entities. Her two rescue dogs, Emery and Denali, are often at her desk as she consults with clients and assists on their cases.
