Gary Wayne Kisling

Gary W. Kisling is a founding partner of Kisling, Nestico & Redick and now serves the firm Of Counsel from its Akron office in Fairlawn, Ohio. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1977, he has practiced personal injury law for more than four decades and helped build KNR from a three-attorney firm in 2005 into one of Ohio's largest personal injury practices, with 40 attorneys and 12 offices across the state.

Raised in rural southeastern Iowa, Gary developed an early sense of justice that led him to the University of Iowa (B.A., Political Science, 1973) and the University of Akron School of Law (J.D., 1977). While in law school he served as a judicial legal assistant in the Akron Municipal Court and the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, where he assisted a trial judge on evidentiary issues during jury trials. He entered private practice immediately after graduating and tried his first jury trial in his second week.

Gary has since tried dozens of jury trials to verdict as lead counsel and settled multi-million-dollar injury cases. He has also won appeals before the Ohio Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Ohio on issues including the unconstitutionality of Ohio's workers' compensation subrogation statute (Modzelewski v. Yellow Freight Systems, 102 Ohio St.3d 192), sovereign immunity for a county-owned nursing home, premises liability notice, expert testimony admissibility, and parental immunity in personal injury cases.

He is a graduate of the University of Virginia's Institute of Trial Advocacy and Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College, a member of the Ohio Association for Justice, and has presented to other attorneys on personal injury trial practice and cross-examination of defense experts.
