I paid approximately $2,700 in cash to attorneys Carlos Johnson and Erin Flanagan for post-conviction representation. Looking back, one comment that stuck with me was being told that "cash is king." My experience was extremely disappointing. Communication was poor, and I was forced to initiate nea...rly every call because I rarely received updates about the case. Despite repeated discussions regarding filing in the Eighth District Court of Appeals, a filing was made in a different court, and valuable time was lost as critical deadlines passed. After providing substantial evidence and documentation, I saw little meaningful communication, little visible progress, and no result that justified the money I paid. For a matter this serious, I expected diligence, responsiveness, and a sound legal strategy. Instead, I was left out thousands of dollars and without the representation I believed I had hired. My impression was that collecting my fee received more attention than my case. Based on my experience with both Carlos Johnson and Erin Flanagan, I felt ignored, frustrated, and deeply disappointed by the lack of communication, accountability, and results. Proceed with caution.
