Emily Ann Weiss

I am a veterans’ disability attorney. I am the daughter of a retired Navy veteran and the wife of a disabled Army veteran. I have seen the struggles they, as well as many of my other veteran friends, have gone through while dealing with the VA and I am alarmed by the black hole that is the bureaucracy of that agency. I hope to assist veterans in navigating the difficult and confusing system to obtain the benefits they deserve.

I have been involved with veteran advocacy since my freshman year at the University of South Dakota (USD). As a member of the USD Veteran’s Club there, I was able to assist in passing both state law and university policy to improve the experience of veterans, dependents, and other military community members while at USD. I continued my goal of improving the lives of veterans while I worked as a legal fellow for the US Senate Committee for Veterans’ Affairs in 2016. With these experiences, I believe I am well apt to understand the struggles facing veterans and work with them to accomplish the common goal of obtaining the benefits they are rightfully entitled to.
