You cannot change status from VWP to H2B. Leave before you fall out of status so you can return later.

If you stay outside for 180 days but less than 365 days you break continuous residence for naturalization purposes. But you won't lose LPR status....

There is a grandparent exception for certain situations but your father is past the minimum age allowed. There is no great grandparent route. Sorry.
