Mr. Fogel did not communicate properly concerning his fees. He sent no interim bills and grossly underestimated his billable hours. He had already charged me almost half of his estimate (which he required as a retainer) before I had signed an engagement letter. His final bill was not given to me u...ntil over two years after I engaged him. The final bill was over 700% of what he had estimated. Mr. Fogel had indicated that his legal assistant would be doing most of the basic work and that clerical staff would be doing the clerical work. It is evidenced by his bill that this was not true. He charged at his highest billing rate for clerical things such as sending faxes. In addition, the quality of Mr. Fogels work was questionable. I had to proofread almost all of his work and found multiple errors. He would always blame me for the errors stating that I provided him with incorrect information. He submitted documents to me that that he had prepared for another client, changing only the names and billing me for several hours. Upon proofreading the document, I found that he failled to change all of the names--violating the confidentiality of the previous client. He incorrectly prepared a real estate note payable causing confusion and a need for me to correct amortization schedules and calclations of the final balnce due. I have had dealings with multiple attorneys in my forty-five plus years in business, Of the multiple attorneys that I have dealt with, Mr. Fogel ranks the lowest.
