David Jonathan Byassee

David J. Byassee is a Shareholder in the Orange County office of Klinedinst P.C. He is a seasoned trial attorney with a proven record of transferring and mitigating risk. Mr. Byassee has successfully tried multi-million dollar claims to verdict and is a go-to attorney for rapid response on high exposure matters.

Mr. Byassee has been practicing law in Southern California since 2006 with focus on litigation and trial of complex claims. He has been managing teams of trial attorneys in private practice and as staff counsel for a fortune 100 company since 2016. Significant components of his practice in recent years include defense of liability claims against a gig economy ridesharing company, defense of other commercial transportation claims involving emerging vehicle technology, defense of commercial premises liability claims, prosecution and defense of construction contract and defect claims, defense of toxic tort claims, and prosecution of subrogation large loss commercial property claims. Mr. Byassee also works with local businesses on strategic planning, contract drafting, and real estate matters.

Mr. Byassee serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of the Soutnern California Defense Counsel (ASCDC) and is a member of the Insurance Law Committee with that organization. He also participates in the Orange County Bar Association and San Juan Capistrano Rotary.

Mr. Byassee was born in Orange County, California. He attended Santa Ana Community College for two years where he played on the Don’s championship football team and was Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1999. He graduated from Chapman University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications in 2003. In 2006 he obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the first law school in the United States of America – William & Mary Law School. During law school he was a Graduate Research Fellow at the William & Mary Law School, a clerk for the colonial Williamsburg Virginia City Attorney, and a judicial extern for Justice William W. Bedsworth at the California Court of Appeal.

Beyond of the office and courtroom, David enjoys spending time outdoors in his hometown of San Juan Capistrano. He is also a real estate broker.
