Daniel Dickert is originally from North Augusta, SC. He received his undergraduate degree from Furman University in 1997 and his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 2001.
After graduating from Furman University, Daniel entered the Army as an Armor officer and graduated from the Armor Officer Basic School at Ft Knox, Kentucky. After serving in the Army Reserve Daniel joined the South Carolina Army National Guard and was appointed as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Daniel deployed to Afghanistan with the 218th Brigade Combat Team and while in Afghanistan was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division as their Command Judge Advocate. Daniel worked closely with the Afghan Army to help develop a criminal justice system. Daniel mentored Afghan prosecutors, defense counsel, judges, and law enforcement.
After graduating from law school in 2001 Daniel served as a law clerk for The Honorable Alexander S. Macaulay in the tenth judicial circuit. Daniel has since developed an extensive background in criminal law. He was a prosecutor in Charleston County where he handled major narcotics cases working closely with the Charleston County Sherriff’s office. Daniel worked as a public defender in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and for the past five years he has been assigned both on Active Duty and in the National Guard as a Trial Defense Attorney.
Daniel is admitted to the South Carolina Bar and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
