No Response, No Callbacks, No Communication

What a horrible experience, from beginning to end. He was recommended by my realtor (I know, big mistake). He did not return phone calls, there was no communication throughout the process. I had several issues with the seller, sent pictures, called his office to speak with him (his receptionist/ad...min put me on hold... the first time we just got disconnected - but she never called back...the 2nd time, she put me on hold and never came back...really?) The final straw - in NY closings take forever, but we started early. 3 days from the closing date, I get a call that the closing date won't work because they were not able to reach the seller's attorney? Seriously? I don't do this often or frequently, but if I did, I think I would "pencil in" and schedule a tentative date/time for the closing... NOT WAITING for 3 days before to find, coordinate and schedule a closing!!! He is either too busy, too unorganized, or both, or simply doesn't care... after all, how often do you get repeat business when buying a house in the same area? My hope is that some people opt to research a closing attorney before committing to one... I actually googled him and did find complaints about his not being responsive or communicative... I will say that, for me at least, he started out the opposite of that...so, I just figured someone had a bad experience (after all, most people only review someone or something when they have a bad experience, right?) I would not recommend (or EVER use) Craig Augi again. I wish that I hadn't used him initially and I wish that someone had provided me with a more detailed warning about him.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
