Christian Lee Reismeier

I retired from the Navy as a Flag Officer after 31 years of service, serving during the last 3 years as the Chief Judge, Department of the Navy and as an Assistant Judge Advocate General.  In that position, all trial and appellate judges within the Navy served under my supervision as the senior supervisory jurist for the Navy.  I was also the head of the Military Justice Litigation Career Track, the professional association for all career litigators within the Navy.  I was responsible for the selection, professional growth and assignment of all career litigators in the Navy. Prior to my final assignment, I served as a prosecutor, chief prosecutor, defense counsel, chief defense counsel, appellate attorney, trial judge, head of the Navy's Criminal Law Divsion (criminal law policy), Chief Judge of the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals, and finally, Chief Judge of the Department of the Navy.  I began my Navy career  in 1984 as an intelligence officer, then attended law school in 1989-92, funded by the Navy.  I earned my masters of law in trial advocacy in 1999.  I have tried nearly every type of case, from murder to national security cases, from drug to sexual assault offenses.  Additionally, I spent considerable time working war crime policy issues, ultimately serving as the Executive Secretary of the Detention Policy Task Force, whose assignment was to provide the President with all lawful options regarding prisoners detained under the law of war.
