Brent Randall Phillips

As an associate in the firm’s Orange County office, Brent R. Phillips has represented Fortune 500 Companies, including manufacturers, general contractors, and subcontractors.  He has extensive experience in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including insurance coverage, general liability, commercial and residential construction, and business disputes.  A large part of his practice has focused insurance coverage on behalf of insurers and insureds.  He has litigated numerous coverage actions and has recovered over $20 million on behalf of his clients.  Mr. Phillips is knowledgeable on most policy forms including commercial general liability policies, errors and omissions policies, employment practices liability policies, owner controlled insurance programs (“Wrap Policies”), directors and officers policies and a variety of other policy forms.  

Mr. Phillips has litigated matters in both federal and state court in multiple jurisdictions.  He handles all aspects of litigation from overall strategic planning and conducting depositions, to mediation and trial.  He has also counseled clients on contractual matters and risk management. 

Mr. Phillips received his undergraduate degree from Chapman University and graduated cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.  While in law school, Mr. Phillips worked in the United States Senate, Committee on the Judiciary and served as an editor for the Administrative Law Review, Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice Section of the American Bar Association.  After law school, Mr. Phillips served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Sherrie L. Krauser, on the Maryland Circuit Court.
